Ticket prices for Monday’s FIFA World Cup Round of 16 clash between the United States and Belgium at Seattle Stadium have continued to fall sharply just hours before kickoff.
According to TicketData.com, the lowest available ticket price stood at $1,508 as of 1:00pm ET (17:00 GMT) on Monday, marking a 27% decline over the past three days.
Ticket prices had surged to $3,115 shortly after the USA-Belgium matchup was confirmed on July 1, but demand has eased significantly since then. Prices dropped to $1,283 on Sunday morning before recovering slightly to $1,788 later in the day, only to resume their downward trend on Monday.
The decline reflects a broader pattern across several World Cup Round of 16 fixtures. While England’s clash against Mexico in Mexico City remained the most expensive, with entry prices reaching $3,820 four hours before kickoff, other knockout matches have also experienced notable price reductions.
Argentina’s upcoming match against Egypt in Atlanta has seen its cheapest ticket fall from $1,599 on July 4 to $1,378, while Switzerland’s meeting with Colombia in Vancouver now offers the most affordable Round of 16 tickets, dropping from $972 to $719 over the past two days.
Meanwhile, ticket prices for Monday’s Iberian showdown between Portugal and Spain in Dallas have remained relatively stable, slipping only slightly from $1,367 to $1,311.
Overall, the average lowest ticket price across all Round of 16 matches has decreased by 3% over the last three days and 8% over the past week.
The sharp fall in prices for the USA-Belgium fixture has surprised many, given Belgium’s strong local presence. The Red Devils have been based just 16 kilometres (10 miles) south of Seattle Stadium at the Sounders FC Performance Center.
Monday’s encounter will be Belgium’s third match in Seattle after drawing 1-1 with Egypt during the group stage and securing a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory over Senegal in the previous knockout round.
