Gold prices in Pakistan registered a notable decrease today, mirroring a downward trend in the international bullion market. In the local market, the price of 24-karat gold dropped by Rs. 2,400 per tola, bringing the trading rate down from its weekend high. This correction comes after a period of intense volatility that has seen domestic precious metal rates reach unprecedented heights over the past few seasons.
According to the latest data shared by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the revised price for 10 grams of 24-karat gold saw a corresponding decline of Rs. 2,058. This internal readjustment directly reflects global shifts, where the international spot rate for the yellow metal dipped by $24 to settle near $4,150 per ounce. Alongside gold, the local price of silver also experienced a minor contraction, sliding by Rs. 37 to trade at Rs. 6,679 per tola.
Market analysts note that local bullion rates in Pakistan continue to track a tight trajectory heavily influenced by the US dollar exchange rate and global economic indicators. Because the country relies on imports to satisfy its domestic gold demand, any pressure on international commodities or macro-level shifts in the open currency market immediately impacts retail prices across major jewelry hubs in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
