Federal Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar announced that comprehensive reforms are being actively introduced across Pakistan’s prison and judicial systems. Speaking at the National Conference on Prison Reforms held at the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the minister reiterated the government’s firm commitment to upholding the rule of law. He emphasized that restructuring these vital systems is essential to making the delivery of justice significantly more efficient, transparent, and accessible to the general public.

A primary goal of the new initiatives is to transform the traditional culture inside correctional facilities and align existing prison laws with modern humanitarian standards. Minister Tarar highlighted that the state is committed to ensuring equal treatment for all inmates, promising targeted relief for individuals separated from their families. To facilitate rehabilitation, the government is focusing on providing prisoners with essential healthcare, quality education, and formal vocational training, aiming to transform prisons from punitive centers into constructive spaces for societal reintegration.
