RAWALPINDI: Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand on Monday praised Pakistan’s continued efforts to promote global peace and regional stability, while acknowledging the country’s significant sacrifices in the fight against terrorism during a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security, defence cooperation, and the growing bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Canada.

Anita Anand commended Pakistan’s constructive role in supporting peace and stability, recognizing the sacrifices made by the Pakistani armed forces and the nation in combating terrorism. She emphasized the importance of continued collaboration to address evolving regional and global security challenges.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir welcomed the Canadian foreign minister and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Canada based on mutual respect, shared interests, and cooperation across multiple sectors.

The two sides also discussed opportunities to expand defence and security cooperation, enhance institutional engagement, and promote dialogue on issues of common concern.

The meeting reflected the growing engagement between Pakistan and Canada, with both countries expressing their commitment to deepening bilateral relations and working together to support regional peace, security, and international stability.
