At least 24 people lost their lives and multiple others sustained injuries on Friday after a Peshawar-bound passenger coach plunged into a deep ravine in the mountainous Dana Sar region. The ill-fated vehicle was traveling from Quetta when the driver reportedly lost control at a sharp, difficult turn near the border separating Balochistan’s Sherani district and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district. Local authorities, including police and rescue teams from both districts, rushed to the site to recover victims—among whom were women and children—from the wreckage.

Local administration officials, including Sherani Deputy Commissioner Wali Khan Kakar, confirmed that an emergency was immediately declared at nearby medical facilities to ensure the survivors received urgent medical care. Rescue operations faced severe logistical challenges due to the steep, rugged, and highly treacherous terrain of the mountainous pass. Meanwhile, provincial leadership expressed deep grief over the tragic loss of lives, directing relevant departments to provide the best possible medical assistance to those recovering in the hospitals.
