Apple M7 Ultra Chip Could Support Up to 1.5TB Unified Memory

Apple’s upcoming M7 Ultra chip is reportedly being designed to support up to 1.5TB of unified memory, potentially marking a major leap in performance for future high-end Macs.

Apple is reportedly developing its next-generation M7 Ultra chip with support for up to 1.5TB of unified memory, according to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. If introduced, the configuration would represent one of the largest memory capacities ever offered in an Apple Silicon-powered Mac.

The availability of the 1.5TB memory option, however, could depend on the global supply of memory chips. Ongoing shortages in the semiconductor industry may influence whether Apple brings the highest-capacity configuration to market when the chip is expected to debut in 2028.

Apple previously offered up to 1.5TB of RAM with its 2019 Intel-based Mac Pro, but such memory capacities have not yet been available on Apple Silicon devices. If the M7 Ultra delivers the same level of memory in a unified architecture, it could significantly improve performance and efficiency for professional workloads.

While Apple has not officially confirmed the specifications, the reported upgrade highlights the company’s continued focus on expanding the capabilities of its in-house silicon for professional users.
