The Bureau of Aircraft Safety Investigation is continuing its probe into the K2 Airways cargo plane crash that occurred on July 7, 2026, when the aircraft went down in the sea near Ormara while traveling from Sharjah to Karachi. Investigators recently conducted an aerial assessment over the crash zone to analyze how the aircraft descended into the water from a high altitude, alongside reviewing initial flight and maintenance records.

Because the crash occurred in deep water, Pakistani authorities are considering bringing in specialized international firms to assist in locating critical components. Key targets for recovery include the aircraft’s engines, the flight data recorder (black box), and the remaining crew members. Preliminary inspections have already been conducted on initial pieces of debris and personal items recovered from the site.

The missing cargo flight was carrying a five-member crew identified as Captain Muhammad Rizwan, First Officer Faisal Mahmood, Loadmaster Muhammad Toufiq Khan, and Engineers Arif Siddiqui and Muhammad Hamid. Search and investigative operations off the Ormara coast remain ongoing as officials work to determine the exact cause of the tragedy.
