New AppleCare+ subscribers may soon pay more for Mac and iPad coverage as Apple reportedly increases monthly and annual plan prices.
Apple is reportedly preparing to increase the cost of AppleCare+ subscriptions for Mac and iPad users, marking another price adjustment across its product and service lineup.
According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the higher pricing will apply only to new AppleCare+ subscribers, while existing customers will continue paying their current rates without any changes to their plans.
Under the revised pricing, the AppleCare+ plan for the 13-inch MacBook Air is expected to increase from $7.49 to $7.99 per month, while the annual subscription will rise from $74.99 to $79.99. Similar price increases are also expected for AppleCare+ plans covering iPads.
The reported adjustment represents an increase of $0.50 per month or $5 per year for eligible devices. Apple has not yet officially updated the new pricing on its U.S. website or within its AppleCare+ terms and conditions, and the company has not publicly commented on the reported changes.
The move follows a similar AppleCare+ price increase for iPhones introduced last year, suggesting Apple is gradually revising pricing across its extended warranty and device protection services.
Apple Continues Broader Price Increases
The reported AppleCare+ adjustments come shortly after Apple announced price increases for several hardware products, including iPads, Macs, Vision Pro, HomePod, and the Apple TV 4K.
Those increases ranged from $30 for the HomePod mini to as much as $4,200 for the high-end M3 Ultra Mac Studio, reflecting rising manufacturing costs across multiple product categories.
Apple CEO Tim Cook previously attributed the hardware price increases to an ongoing global RAM shortage, explaining that the company had attempted to absorb higher component costs for as long as possible before passing some of the increases on to consumers.
If implemented, the latest AppleCare+ price adjustment would further expand Apple’s broader pricing strategy while maintaining coverage options for customers seeking protection against accidental damage and hardware repairs.
Although the increases are relatively modest, prospective buyers planning to purchase a new Mac or iPad may want to factor the updated AppleCare+ pricing into the total cost of ownership.
Apple is expected to update its official website and support documentation once the revised subscription pricing becomes effective.
