A cargo aircraft operated by Pakistan’s private carrier K2 Airways is feared to have crashed after disappearing from radar near Ormara while returning to Karachi from Sharjah, triggering a large-scale search and rescue operation involving multiple agencies.

According to aviation sources, the Boeing 737 was on a ferry flight from the United Arab Emirates after undergoing repairs in Sharjah. The aircraft had previously been grounded due to a technical fault and was repaired by Sharjah-based aviation maintenance company Northern Technik before departing for Karachi.

The aircraft reportedly lost contact with air traffic control near the coastal town of Ormara in Balochistan, prompting authorities to launch an emergency search operation in the surrounding maritime area.

Initial reports from aviation sources said the aircraft was carrying two flight crew members: Captain Rizwan and First Officer Faisal Jatoi. However, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) later confirmed that five crew members were on board.

The additional personnel were identified as Taufiq Khan, Engineer Muhammad Hamid, and Arif Siddiqui.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the aircraft’s disappearance, and no wreckage or survivors had been officially reported at the time of writing. Rescue teams, including maritime and aviation authorities, continue to search the area.
