PESHAWAR: In a major push toward public service automation, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police, in coordination with the provincial traffic authorities, has officially rolled out the e-driving licence facility for citizens across the province. Designed to eliminate conventional bureaucratic bottlenecks, the newly integrated e-licensing system allows qualified drivers to seamlessly access, verify, and store a authentic digital copy of their driving licence directly on their smartphones, ensuring verification is available at their fingertips.
The transition to a paperless ecosystem is managed through automated built-in infrastructure, where all critical data—including biometric verification, driver photographs, and test results—is stored on main central servers. Citizens can generate their official e-licence by entering their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and existing licence number onto the designated public service portal. Traffic police personnel can instantly verify the authenticity of these digital documents on the road via real-time data lookups, effectively mitigating the risk of counterfeit permits and ensuring administrative transparency.
This digital shift is part of a broader e-governance strategy pushed by the provincial administration to make essential public services more inclusive and accessible. Alongside providing immense convenience to local commuters, the digital framework caters heavily to overseas Pakistanis by allowing streamlined verification pathways without the necessity of physical department visits.
