Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces is visiting Iran as Islamabad steps up diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability amid the escalating regional situation.
TEHRAN: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in Tehran on an official visit to Iran as part of Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to promote peace and stability in the region, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni received Field Marshal Asim Munir upon his arrival in the Iranian capital.
According to the ISPR, the visit is aimed at supporting Pakistan’s efforts to promote a peaceful and sustainable resolution to the ongoing regional conflict.
Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to pursuing a peaceful, comprehensive and sustainable solution to the conflict in the Middle East.
During his visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir is expected to engage in diplomatic efforts focused on reducing tensions and supporting initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region.
The ISPR described the visit as an important part of Islamabad’s broader diplomatic efforts to encourage stability and peaceful dialogue.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is accompanying the Chief of Defence Forces during the official visit to Tehran, according to the military’s media wing.
The presence of senior Pakistani officials highlights Islamabad’s efforts to coordinate its diplomatic and security engagement amid rapidly changing developments in the region.
Pakistan has consistently called for dialogue and peaceful diplomatic solutions to regional disputes while expressing concern over the potential consequences of further escalation.
The visit follows a telephone conversation between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Field Marshal Asim Munir.
During the call, the two officials discussed the latest developments and the evolving security situation in the region.
Araghchi also held separate telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Türkiye, according to Iranian state media, as regional governments continued consultations over the worsening situation.
During the discussions, Araghchi called on the United States to avoid what he described as military adventurism.
The Iranian foreign minister also warned that any military action by the United States or Israel against Iran would face a decisive response.
He further said that Iran would respond firmly if any other regional country participated in such aggression.
The warnings come amid heightened regional tensions and growing international concern that further military escalation could have wider consequences for the Middle East.
Pakistan has continued to emphasise the importance of diplomacy and dialogue in addressing regional conflicts.
