With just 100 days remaining until the US midterm elections, House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries has launched the Democratic Party’s new “Fighting for an Affordable America” agenda, placing economic affordability and cost-of-living concerns at the heart of the party’s campaign to regain control of the US House of Representatives.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Sunday, Jeffries outlined the Democrats’ economic message while endorsing Democratic congressional candidate Bob Brooks in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District, one of several Republican-held districts the party hopes to flip in the upcoming election.

Addressing supporters, Jeffries said the Democratic agenda is focused on ensuring that hardworking Americans can achieve financial security and maintain a stable middle-class lifestyle.

“When you work hard and play by the rules, you should be able to live a middle-class life, a comfortable life, an affordable life, live a good life,” Jeffries told the crowd.

The campaign event marked the official rollout of the Democrats’ affordability-focused platform, which aims to address rising household expenses, healthcare costs, housing affordability, and everyday economic challenges facing American families.

Pennsylvania has emerged as a key battleground ahead of the midterm elections, with Democrats targeting several competitive Republican-held congressional districts in their effort to reclaim the House majority. Party leaders believe that focusing on pocketbook issues and the cost of living will resonate with voters concerned about inflation, wages, and economic stability.

The Democrats’ strategy comes as both major parties intensify campaigning ahead of Election Day, with control of Congress expected to be one of the most closely watched political contests in the United States.
