LOS ANGELES: Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt, the daughter of Hollywood stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, has taken another legal step toward removing “Pitt” from her surname.

According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, Vivienne submitted proof of publication after announcing her intention to change her legal name from “Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt” to “Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.” The request has not yet been approved by the court.

The required legal notice was published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal on July 24, July 31, August 7 and August 14. The publication process is part of California’s legal requirements for certain name-change petitions.

Vivienne Jolie Name Change Hearing Set for November

Vivienne initially filed her petition with the Los Angeles County Superior Court on July 21, requesting the removal of “Pitt” from her legal surname. Court documents list the reason for the requested change as “personal.”

A court hearing has been scheduled for November 2, when the petition is expected to be considered further. Anyone wishing to object to the proposed name change must submit a written objection within the required timeframe and attend the hearing.

The latest filing follows Vivienne’s earlier public use of the name “Vivienne Jolie.” In May 2024, she was credited under that name in the Playbill for the Broadway production The Outsiders, which she helped produce alongside her mother, Angelina Jolie.

Vivienne is not the only child of Jolie and Pitt to move away from the “Pitt” surname. Her siblings Zahara and Maddox have also taken steps through the legal process to change their names.

Zahara’s hearing is scheduled for September 28, while Maddox’s hearing is set for September 14. Zahara also publicly used the name “Zahara Marley Jolie” during her college graduation ceremony in May 2024.

In August 2024, Pitt and Jolie’s daughter Shiloh legally changed her name from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt to Shiloh Jolie after filing her petition on her 18th birthday.

Vivienne, who was born in July 2008 alongside her twin brother Knox, is the youngest of Jolie and Pitt’s six children. Her latest petition represents another development in the long-running family dispute surrounding the former Hollywood couple.

The court has yet to make a final decision on Vivienne’s request, meaning her legal surname remains Jolie-Pitt until the petition is formally approved.
