MULTAN: Multan International Airport has achieved a new milestone by handling 30 flights in a single day, marking a significant increase in international air traffic and passenger movement at the airport, according to a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) spokesperson.
The FIA spokesperson said immigration authorities successfully processed 5,070 passengers at Multan Airport during the record-breaking day. The immigration staff completed the required procedures for all passengers while managing the increased flow of travellers through the airport.
Of the total passengers processed, 2,983 passengers departed Pakistan for international destinations, while 2,087 passengers arrived in the country from various destinations abroad. The figures highlight the growing volume of international travel through Multan Airport and its increasing importance as a major aviation facility in southern Punjab.
The FIA Multan Zone spokesperson said the number of flights and passengers at Multan Airport is continuously increasing. Despite the rising passenger traffic, immigration authorities are providing timely and efficient services to travellers arriving in and departing from the country.
The increase in international flights has also created a greater need for passenger facilitation and efficient immigration services. To address this growing demand, the FIA Multan Zone has established a Public Facilitation Center at Multan Airport to assist passengers and provide guidance regarding immigration-related matters.
The new facility is expected to improve the overall passenger experience by providing travellers with timely assistance and helping them resolve immigration-related issues more efficiently. Officials said the initiative is part of efforts to strengthen passenger facilitation as air traffic through Multan continues to expand.
In light of the rising number of flights and passengers, FIA Director Irtaza Hyder praised the performance of the immigration staff at Multan Airport. He appreciated the personnel for successfully managing the increased workload and completing immigration procedures for thousands of passengers during the busy day.
The latest figures demonstrate the growing international connectivity of Multan Airport and the increasing demand for overseas travel from Multan and surrounding areas. The airport’s rising passenger traffic could further strengthen its role as an important gateway for international travellers from southern Punjab.
