RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Saturday reaffirmed the enduring strength of Pakistan-China relations, describing the friendship between the two countries as “unique, time-tested, and steadfast” despite changing regional and global challenges.

He made the remarks while addressing a ceremony at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to mark the 99th anniversary of the founding of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The event was attended by Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, who served as the guest of honour, along with China’s Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, officials from the Chinese Embassy, and senior officers representing Pakistan’s Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Tribute to the People’s Liberation Army

During his address, Field Marshal Asim Munir congratulated the PLA on completing 99 years of service and praised its significant contributions to China’s national defence, economic development, and international peace and security.

According to the ISPR, the army chief acknowledged the PLA’s role in safeguarding China’s sovereignty while contributing to regional stability and global peace initiatives.

Pakistan-China Friendship Described as Time-Tested

Emphasizing the strategic partnership between Islamabad and Beijing, Field Marshal Munir said Pakistan and China have built a relationship based on mutual trust, shared interests, and unwavering support.

He noted that the bilateral friendship has successfully withstood evolving regional and international challenges, making it one of the strongest partnerships in the region.

The army chief reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening defence cooperation, strategic coordination, and longstanding ties with China across multiple sectors.

Strategic Partnership Continues to Grow

Pakistan and China maintain close cooperation in defence, trade, infrastructure, and regional connectivity, with projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) remaining a key pillar of bilateral relations.

The ceremony reflected the continued commitment of both countries to enhancing military collaboration and deepening their strategic partnership amid an evolving regional security environment.
