BYD Global Vehicle Sales Rise for Third Consecutive Month on Strong Overseas Demand

Shenzhen: Chinese electric vehicle (EV) giant BYD reported its third consecutive month of global sales growth in July, driven by surging overseas demand that helped offset softer market conditions in China.

According to Reuters calculations based on the company’s official statements released on Saturday, BYD sold 419,211 vehicles worldwide in July, marking a 21.8% increase compared with the same month last year.

The company’s international business continued to expand rapidly, with overseas shipments of passenger vehicles and pickup trucks soaring 124.3% year-on-year to 179,841 units, highlighting BYD’s growing presence in global markets.

The strong export performance comes as competition in China’s domestic electric vehicle market remains intense, prompting automakers to increasingly focus on international expansion to sustain growth.

During BYD’s annual shareholders’ meeting in Shenzhen last month, Chairman Wang Chuanfu reaffirmed the company’s ambitious vision of becoming the world’s largest automaker within the next five years.

Addressing investors, Wang emphasized that rapid export growth, continued technological innovation, and advancements in battery technology and ultra-fast charging systems will be key pillars supporting the company’s long-term strategy.

The chairman’s remarks were aimed at boosting investor confidence following a sharp decline in BYD’s share price, underscoring management’s commitment to maintaining growth despite market volatility.

BYD has continued to strengthen its position as one of the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturers by expanding into new international markets while investing heavily in next-generation EV technologies. The company’s accelerating global sales momentum reflects increasing consumer demand for its electric and plug-in hybrid models across Asia, Europe, Latin America, and other emerging markets.

With exports reaching record levels and technology remaining a core competitive advantage, BYD is positioning itself to play an even larger role in the global automotive industry as the transition toward electric mobility continues.
